BUSHRA

BUSHRA

About the Child

In 2022, Bushra came to one of Shokofa’s safe homes in Kabul, where 20 other girls also lived in hiding. They secretly attended school despite the Taliban’s ban and took online classes from Shokofa’s volunteers.

In April 2024, Bushra moved to Pakistan and joined 22 girls in another Shokofa caring home. She now studies at a private school in Islamabad and takes special vocal music lessons at home.

In 2025, something wonderful happened — after years apart, her younger sister Ayesha was reunited with her. Now, the two sisters live together, supporting each other and thriving.

Family Situation:

Bushra’s early life was marked by heartbreak and instability. After her parents divorced, her mother chose to abandon Bushra and her little sister, seeking a new life with another man. The girls were left in the care of their father — a man who was homeless and battling severe mental illness.

With no safe place to call home, the sisters were torn apart, passed from one relative to another, living in constant uncertainty. Nights were spent wondering where they would sleep, and days were filled with the aching question of when — or if — they would ever see each other again.
