Husna grew up in extreme poverty, where her father married off his young daughters at very early ages in exchange for survival. When it was time for Husna’s own marriage—arranged while she was still just a child—her future seemed destined to be one without freedom, education, or safety.
But Husna was courageous. Refusing to accept that fate, she escaped her home in Nuristan and sought refuge with her sister in Kabul. Soon after, she was relocated to one of Shokofa’s caring homes in Islamabad, where she now lives in a safe and loving environment alongside other girls who have also endured hardship.
Today, Husna attends a quality private school, receives the care every child deserves, and—most importantly—has the chance to dream about her future. With sponsorship, she can continue her education and grow into a strong, independent young woman ready to build a brighter life.
