About the Child
Bulbola is a bright, determined girl now living in one of Shokofa’s safe homes in Islamabad, Pakistan, alongside 20 other Afghan girls. She attends a private school and, in the evenings, takes English online classes and also music lessons—a passion she could never have pursued in her home village.
Her journey with Shokofa began in 2023, when she arrived at the organization’s home in Kabul. At the time, the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education forced her to attend school in secret, risking severe punishment for the simple act of learning. In 2024, Shokofa relocated Bulbola and several other girls to Pakistan, ensuring they could receive a quality education openly and live without the daily fear that shadowed their lives in Afghanistan. Today, she dreams not just of an education, but of a future where she can stand on her own and give back to others.
Family Situation
Bulbola’s early life was defined by loss and hardship. Her mother died when she was very young, leaving her father—who suffers from severe mental illness and behavioral challenges—unable to care for her or her five siblings. The family lived in extreme poverty in a remote mountain village in Nuristan, Afghanistan, where reaching the nearest town could take days and modern conveniences were virtually nonexistent. Life there was harsh, unforgiving, and trapped in conditions that felt centuries behind the rest of the world.
You have the opportunity to sponsor one or multiple Afghan girls from our orphanages. Your sponsorship provides vital financial support for their education, including tuition fees, and essential living expenses such as rent, food, healthcare, clothing, utilities, and more. To ensure continuous education and care, we kindly encourage sponsors to consider annual contributions.
As a sponsor, you can build a meaningful connection with your sponsored child through letters and video calls. You also have the option to visit the orphanage and meet her in person. We will keep you updated on her progress, education, daily life, and activities, ensuring you play an ongoing role in her journey toward a brighter and successful future.
