About the Child:
Asia is one of the most gifted and determined girls at Shokofa’s caring home in Islamabad. She is the lead singer of the children’s choir and takes both guitar and vocal lessons. When she’s not singing, you’ll often find her racing across the roller-skating rink, playing table tennis, or drawing. Asia is also a football fan, loves horror movies, and enjoys reading stories to others—her energy fills every space she enters. But what makes Asia shine the brightest is her dream: to one day soar through the skies as a pilot. She longs not just to travel the world, but also to prove that Afghan girls can reach heights once thought impossible.
Family Situation:
Asia’s father, a former police officer, was well-known in their region for his defiance of the Taliban. When the Taliban regained control in 2021, her family’s life was torn apart — their home was seized, her father went into hiding, and Asia and her younger sister, Hawa, fled the village in fear of being taken as “war booties” and forced into marriage, a fate many Afghan girls have tragically endured. Shokofa staff in Nuristan learned of their plight and brought them to a safe, caring home in Islamabad.
You have the opportunity to sponsor one or multiple Afghan girls from our orphanages. Your sponsorship provides vital financial support for their education, including tuition fees, and essential living expenses such as rent, food, healthcare, clothing, utilities, and more. To ensure continuous education and care, we kindly encourage sponsors to consider annual contributions.
As a sponsor, you can build a meaningful connection with your sponsored child through letters and video calls. You also have the option to visit the orphanage and meet her in person. We will keep you updated on her progress, education, daily life, and activities, ensuring you play an ongoing role in her journey toward a brighter and successful future.
